100,934. Around 11:45 Saturday  night, that was the number that stared back at me from the Project Targets window as I typed the final word in By the Fates, Freed.

That’s not the final word count of the book. Heck, that’s not the final word count of the week. I’m up to somewhere around 103,000 already after some editing, but for the most part, I’m done.

I’m currently giving the entire book one last edit, tweaking, adding some breadcrumbs to the final big reveal and trying to fix a couple of nagging “I want these scenes to be better” areas. Once that’s done, unless my beta readers have any other feedback, I will send the manuscript off to a proofreader/copy editor, get cover art done, and then I’ll publish.

I admit to a few moments of unabashed glee over the past few days. I don’t know if the book is any good. (And I’m not fishing for compliments here.) Good is subjective. But it is a book. It has a cohesive story. The characters go through stuff and come out different on the other end. There’s steamy sex. There’s danger. There’s a hot warlock. At least a couple of readers have told me they enjoyed it. Hopefully they were being honest with me. 🙂

Now that I’m done, there’s a real possibility that within the next two months, this could be released. I sent the initial email yesterday to the cover artist and I’m so very excited to see what she comes up with. Now I need to figure out what to charge for it.
