Cuddle up with a good book and Garrett’s Hot Toddy

L&L Pre-OrderIt’s no secret that I love food and drink. I fancy myself a bit of an amateur bartender, as one of my favorite things to do at parties is come up with a new drink recipe. So when I decided to write a book that was at least, in part, set in a bar, I knew that I had to do blog post series full of custom drink recipes! Love and Libations is now available for pre-order. Grab it now and it’ll be delivered to your shiny Kindle on February 12th, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Today, because it’s been a chilly weekend where I live, I wanted to share the recipe for Garrett’s Hot Toddy, a comforting, sweet drink to take the edge off of your chill and make you feel loved and cherished. Here’s a little snippet from Love and Libations, followed by Garrett’s Hot Toddy recipe.

Once inside his private space, he shut the door, backed her up against it, and framed her face with his hands. He couldn’t help his grin. “I love seein’ you in my bar.” This kiss was tender, his tongue dancing with hers, tiny nips along her lower lip, until his dick throbbed against his jeans. If their relationship was further along, he’d consider taking her on his desk, but he wanted to make their first time special. Romantic. Memorable. Though he supposed sex on his desk would be memorable. A chuckle slipped out before he could stop it.

“What’s so funny?” she asked, narrowing her eyes at him.

He tried to deflect, but she took him by the shoulders and pushed him back a couple of steps. “Spill it, stud.”

“I was thinkin’ how I wanted to make Saturday night special.”

“Uh-huh.” Her gaze fell to his jeans. “Special.”

“I’ll make you a hot toddy?”

“I’d like that.”

Behind the bar, he mixed up his own personalized recipe: chamomile tea, bourbon, mead, peach liqueur, and his signature twist of a float of yuzu liqueur.

Garrett’s Hot Toddy

  • Freshly brewed chamomile tea
  • 1.5 ounces of bourbon
  • 0.5 ounces of mead (honey wine)
  • 1 ounce of peach liqueur
  • A scant float of yuzu liqueur (optional)

Mix everything but the tea in a hot toddy glass. Add hot tea to taste. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and enjoy.
